SALINE COUNTY PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

October 14, 2025

Consolidated Public Water Supply District No. 2 of Lafayette, Johnson and Saline Counties, in conjunction with Marshall Municipal Utilities, will begin a free chlorine conversion.  The conversion will affect all PWSD No. 2 customers in Saline County, except for the City of Blackburn.

Starting the week of October 20, 2025, and continuing through November 14, the water district staff will be flushing in Saline County.  Unfortunately, we can not notify everyone when their area will be affected, but your understanding is appreciated, as keeping your drinking water safe is our #1 priority!

During the conversion and flushing process, you may experience temporary changes in the taste, odor, color, and water pressure.  These changes are normal, and the water will remain safe for drinking, cooking, bathing, and other purposes.  This conversion is recommended for a brief time period by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.

Throughout the year, chloramines, also known as combined chlorine, are added to the water as the primary disinfectant.  During the conversion, chlorine is used as the primary disinfectant, referred to as free chlorine.  Free chlorine is a stronger disinfectant than combined chlorine.

If you have any questions about the process, please contact the water district office at 660-584-2344 or the Missouri Department of Natural Resources Public Drinking Water Branch at 573-751-5331 or your healthcare provider.
