What is the PRIMACY FEE charge on my bill?

March 26, 2026

It's that time of year again when the Primacy Fee shows up on bills.

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Primacy Fee is an annual, state-mandated fee (typically $5.28 for 1" or smaller meters) charged to customers of public water systems to fund safe drinking water regulations, testing, and inspections. It is billed once a year by your local water district to maintain state, rather than federal EPA, control over water quality.  ~~Bills will go in the mail no later than March 31, 2026.
